Shipping & Refunds

Last updated: 10 August 2026

How we get chocolate to you, what it costs, and what happens if something goes wrong. Chocolate is perishable, which affects what we can take back — but it does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Where we ship

We currently ship within Australia only. Our checkout collects an Australian suburb, state and postcode. If you are outside Australia and would like to order, email us at sales@chocomate.au and we will let you know what is possible.

Delivery cost

  • $9.95 flat rate anywhere in Australia.
  • Free shipping on orders over $50.00.

The delivery charge that applies to your cart is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay.

Dispatch and delivery times

Orders are packed and dispatched from Melbourne. We aim to dispatch within [DISPATCH TIMEFRAME TO BE CONFIRMED] of your order being confirmed, and delivery usually takes [DELIVERY TIMEFRAME TO BE CONFIRMED] after dispatch, via [CARRIER TO BE CONFIRMED]. These are estimates, not guarantees — carrier delays, public holidays and peak periods can add time.

If your order has not arrived well after the expected window, contact us and we will chase it up with the carrier.

Hot weather

Chocolate is heat-sensitive and Australian summers are unkind to it. We pack with that in mind, but we cannot control the temperature inside a delivery van or a parcel left in the sun on your doorstep. If you can, choose a delivery address where the parcel will be taken inside promptly.

If your chocolate arrives melted, bloomed or otherwise not in acceptable condition, tell us — you may be entitled to a replacement or refund under the Australian Consumer Law, and we would rather fix it than have you eat a disappointing bar.

Change of mind

Because our products are perishable food, we generally cannot accept returns or give refunds for change of mind, incorrect flavour choice, or an order you no longer want once it has been dispatched. For food safety and hygiene reasons we cannot resell chocolate that has left our control.

If you spot a mistake, contact us immediately at sales@chocomate.au. If your order has not been dispatched yet, we will do our best to change or cancel it and refund you.

This change-of-mind policy is in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

If something is wrong with your order

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If your order arrives damaged, melted, past its best-before date, incorrect, incomplete, or otherwise not of acceptable quality, contact us at sales@chocomate.au as soon as you can. Please include:

  • Your order number or the email address you ordered with
  • What is wrong, and which items are affected
  • A photo of the product and the packaging, if the problem is visible

Major failure — for example the product is unsafe, is significantly different from its description, or cannot be made acceptable: you choose between a refund and a replacement, and you may also claim compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss.

Minor problem: we will resolve it within a reasonable time, usually by replacing the item or refunding it.

We do not ask you to post perishable food back to us unless we specifically request it and cover the cost.

Wrong or incomplete addresses

Please double-check your delivery address at checkout. If a parcel is returned to us or lost because the address you gave was wrong or incomplete, we can resend it, but you may need to pay the delivery cost again. This does not apply where the mistake was ours.

How refunds are paid

Refunds are made through Stripe to the original payment method. Once we process a refund it typically takes 5–10 business days for your bank or card issuer to post it to your account. We cannot refund to a different card or account.
